Finckh lives in Berlin, Germany. He has studied jazz trumpet, but got more and more involved in electronic music, mainly because of his studio work for Ras and Sonar Kollektiv / Jazzanova.

Finckhs concept is to take the everyday sounds that surround us and make them dance. His musical roots span from some quite weird and funny tapes from his childhood to the real masters of funky music like JB, Herbie Hancock, Parliament/Funkadelic, Eddie Harris and Idris Muhammed. You could call his music "home made broken beats".

The Finckh Live-Band features the singer Sonja Kandels and the drummer and multi-instrumentalist Beni Reimann, both living in Berlin.

Depending on the setup, bass, keys, guitar and the clarinet will be played live or the tracks will play from Finckhs laptop. Besides taking care of the electronics, Finckh will be singing, beatboxing and playing the trumpet. So, one thing is clear: no more FUNK possible.

With the beginning of 2006, Finckh has released a 12“ called „Aua Dieler“ on the Berlin-based label Tonkind.

I always think this music is called ragtime. That´s probably not true, but it´s really funky and anyway, the bass clarinet is a future funk instrument. Totally freaked out groove on both sides which fits brilliantly to the label and, for me, is one of the outstandingly attempts to do something new with beats that functions beyond everything and kicks like jazz would still be the one and only future.

Tonkind to third. And the proof that the label is indeed caring about musical variety: After house and electro now comes a daring and funny mixture of hip hop, dub and... well, let´s say swing with a light Tirol flair from the jazz trumpet player Burkhard Finckh. Broken Beats, scratch and cracking sounds fall in love with a virtuos bass clarinet. A deliciously differently vinyl which is highly recommended to all people with openess and a sense of nonsense. Although definitely not wanted on an endless tape, in my opinion, nonsense has to be rewarded - particularly when someone plays such a fabulous clarinet.
